Powder coating is a dry finishing process that applies an electrostatic charge to a dry powder, causing it to adhere to a grounded surface. The part is then cured in an oven, which melts the powder into a hardened, durable, and attractive finish that is more resistant to impact, corrosion, and weathering than traditional liquid paint. Powder coating is an environmentally friendly process that provides excellent corrosion resistance. It provides protective and aesthetic finish and can be tailored to customer requirements.

Steps of the Powder Coating Process

Surface Preparation: The surface of the object must be thoroughly cleaned and prepared, which can involve processes like degreasing, rinsing, and phosphating to ensure good adhesion.
Powder Application: The dry powder is applied using an electrostatic sprayer, which gives the powder particles and the object a charge. The charged powder is attracted to and adheres to the grounded surface.
Curing: Once the powder is applied, the object is moved into a curing oven. The heat causes the powder to melt, flow together, and cure into a smooth, hard finish.
